United Methodist Women (UMW) work to build a supportive community among women, engaging in activities that foster growth in Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement. The purpose of the Golden First UMC chapter of UMW is:"...to know God and to experience freedom as whole "persons through Jesus Christ; to develop creative, supportive friendships; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the varied global ministries of the United Methodist Church."UMW supports this purpose in a number of ways:SMALL GROUPS, which are also known as CIRCLES. Circles meet for Bible study, fellowship, and to work on projects. Circles which currently meet at Golden FUMC are as follows:The CRAFT CIRCLE meets Tuesdays at 9:30 am. The SISTERS OF SALOME CIRCLE meets on the 1st Saturday of each month at 9:30 am. The ESTHER CIRCLE meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 12:00 pm. The EVENING CIRCLE meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. The JOY CIRCLE meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm. The QUILTING CIRCLE meets Thursdays at 10:00 am.LARGE GROUP UMW activities and meetings are held several times per year.

| The FALL LADIES RETREAT is held in October -- generally at the Templed Hills Retreat Center near Woodland Park, CO. | |

The annual UMW SPIRITUAL RETREAT is held in April -- usually in Estes Park, Colorado. Eight UMW members from Golden First UMC attended in April, 2000. Pictures and additional information about this retreat are online here [ click ]. |
