Divorce is among the most traumatic experiences that you may face in
your lifetime. Regardless of your role, separation brings pain,
emptiness, anger, and guilt. Most of us experience an identity crisis
and financial imbalances which require many adjustments and new goals.
We at First United Methodist Church of Golden care about you and the
tremendous number of new decisions you must now make. We try to
provide a non-threatening, non-denominational setting where you can
find support in dealing with your emotions and in making important
decisions. Our hope is that by participating in this workshop you
will be better equipped to handle the work of your recovery.
Growing Through Your Loss
Our Goal is to support you in your time of crisis, to help you grow
and help get you on the successful "road to happiness" again.
Rev. Jim Smoke, whose book we will be using, has said, "You can go
through divorce or you can grow through divorce." The mutual support
and concern of others dealing with similar issues can be tremendously
helpful in assisting you in making one of life's most difficult
adjustments.
Some of you have been single for a while but are still feeling the pain.
Others are learning to be a single parent and fit into the world with
a new identity. We can help make those and many other adjustments easier.
Are you in the "crisis" stage? This workshop will be a lifeline for you.
You will find that you are not alone as you try to understand your
feelings and needs. We will be there for you.
